Death's Obsession: A Paranormal Dark Romance

by Avina St. Graves (Author)
4.1

He’s coming for you. Death is meant to come on a chariot of broken dreams or in the dark trenches of a storm, not in love letters and gifts. He did not take my soul when I was meant to die. He did not want it all the other times that I’ve offered it to him on a silver platter. Yet, time and time again, he reminds me that I am his: His night monster, his dark love, his perfect other. Death was the only thing keeping me alive. He watches me from his corner, taunts me with sweet messages, marks my body with his touch as I sleep. He took the people that I love away from me. Still, no one believed me when I said that I saw the faceless man on the night of the accident. No one can escape death. Me? I’m chasing it.

    Why You'll Love This

The media could not be loaded. Deaths Obsession☠️🖤🥀 By Avina St. Graves🥀✨ Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ Spice🌶️🌶️🌶️ Dark: 🖤🖤🖤 Tropes:🩸 🖤Grim Reaper MMC 🖤Trauma 🖤Dual POV 🖤Love Letters 🖤Shadow Play 🖤Touch her and literally☠️ 🖤Stalker/ Onsessive and Possessive MMC Check your triggers before reading because it definitely has dark themes and storylines!🫶 Review:❣️ This book was one I picked up when I was in the mood for a shorter read and I’m so glad I did! My only problem is I wanted more of the story after! This book is about Lily who was in a tragic car accident causing her to lose the last member of her family, her twin sister. Since that day a shadow of a man has appeared around her or in her dreams telling her that he is coming. He leaves gifts, love letters, and does things to take care of her that she doesn’t even notice. Little does she know that it is Death himself. Throughout the book we get both perspectives and I love how broody and obsessive Death is🖤 He wants her to heal and guides her to be ready to move forward. Lilith has come to look forward to his notes and gifts and wants to know him. Through her dreams she starts to learn more and the story just sucks you in! I can’t believe there’s not a second book cause I would love to see them after the end of this book. Death is so swoony if you’re also into possessive men who look out for their lady🖤 here’s some quotes if you need convincing! Quotes: -The fates have not yet called upon his soul. I decided that he lost it the second he laid his eyes on you. -“You, my love, are like a storm, drowning the land with sorrow, shattering ships with your broken waves. Still, you look into the eye of the storm and see nothing but beauty.” He pulls my head to the side and dips down so his lips are against my ear. “Let me drown in your ocean and feel your rage. Let me feel your waves crash against my skin, pulling me deeper into your depths so you will never be alone again.” His thumb grazes my lip before he claims me completely with a kiss. “You are the sunrise after the storm. The new beginning and the dawn. You, my flower, are beauty personified.”

This book was amazing! It’s been in my tbr for awhile and I downloaded it a couple weeks ago but have just now gotten around to reading it. I knew it was going to be good but Avina went above and beyond my expectations with this one. From the very beginning I was hooked! I read it in less than hour. Oh and, the shadow (or D3@th’s soul, whatever you want to call it)? Jesussss, that was hot. I think I liked this one even more than Skin of a Sinner and I didn’t think that was even possible. 💀D3@th 🖤Dark Romance 🥀St@lk3r ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

I held off on reading this based purely on reviews I read on Goodreads. A huge mistake. This book exceeded every expectation and then some. While I did encounter some repetition throughout the story, the interactions between the MMC and FMC as well as the storyline made up for it. This book was on the shorter side and was such an entertaining quick read. If you love a shadow daddy, this book is DEFINITELY for you 🖤

**Please: Before reading this, make sure to heed the trigger warnings, since this book is heavy on different themes, that aren't for everyone.** I have to say, I didn't expect much from this novella. I mean, I always try to read something without any expectations or any judgement. That's how it should be, at least. But I read the blurb and that made me intrigued and fuelled my thoughts. But I didn't expect it to be so otherworldly beautiful and with so much meaningful impact and words. I have to say, I have a certain fascination with death. Not in a morbid way, but over many years I came across different quotes and occasions, where I started to think about the meaning of life. Though, most people prefer to recoil from death and don't like to think about it, I have a different take on it. Especially, since I heard a quote (was even from a game), that basically said, that it doesn't make sense to be afraid of death, because a life without loss is one without love. And that with turning your back on death, that we are only able to see the shadow that it casts. And the longer we hide from it, the longer the shadow grows, until all you can see is darkness. So, when our time comes, we must look death in the eye and embrace it as a friend. Only then can we let go of fear, and emerge from the darkness. This quote really played in my mind while reading this. And I think there is a lot of truth behind it. Life is never without death. And we can't run or hide from it, because it is meant to be. And this story gives another take on that sentiment for me. Because Lilith is the example of a life not lived. She is dealing with trauma and mental illness. Not truly grieving or progressing, but existing. And Death always by her side and making her understand the importance of healing and living, before reaching the stage of death. This woven into a love story was really a beautiful, yet, deep felt interaction. We see how Lilith is struggling with different situations of her life now and the trauma. It was hard to read about it, because I really can relate in some way. Not with the grieving, since I never lost someone that was close to me. But I know how it is to struggle and be emotionally and physically exhausted because of circumstances beyond my control. And it is a burden you can feel. She is a broken person, but yet, she heals under Death's care. He helps her find her way and make her realize what she truly needs. And he only claims her, when she is whole and is able to truly choose. As he said, she had to open her eyes. Really, it was a beautiful read with, of course, some spice in it, that was well executed in my opinion. It helped to pick up my mood too. So, that is a plus. For me, considering that this was just a novella, it is a 5-star read. :)

It was a bliss reading this. The dialogues were amazing and poetic. The whole idea of the story was mind goggling and it made me think more of death than usual but in a good way. Suffering from major depressive disorder, it touched my heart and made me sigh at the loss of me. So, it was just a bliss reading this.

This is only a short book but it’s captivating and gripping from the start. The FMC Lilith doesn’t know why she survived. She’s pretty sure she’s not crazy when she sees the faceless man following her, the notes, the flowers, the gifts. No one but her can see them, see him. They all say it’s grief. She knows in her soul it’s more. The MMC is none other than death himself, Letum knew he should have taken her, he couldn’t do it, she was not meant to cross and be lost, she is his. She will be his for eternity, she just needs a little gentle persuasion. I mean what can’t you love about this book when it’s death himself who’s trying to heal the FMC, her heart, her mind, her soul, show her that she’s not as broken as everyone keeps telling her she is. She needs to be whole to spend eternity at his side. Lilith knows she shouldn’t be so drawn to him, she feels whole when he is near, he sees her, I’m sure it helps to that when he touches her, so does his corporeal soul…. Four hands are better than two. This book was gripping and enthralling and such a great take on life, loss, healing and support 5⭐️2🌶️
