5 STARS I don't even know where to begin with this review. I'm speechless right now because this book took me by surprise and it hurt me deeply for what the individuals in this story had to endure throughout this story. I laughed, I got angry and I swooned all at the same time! Maybell is a smart, sassy girl who doesn't care to be seen let alone have anyone interested in her, but when she decides to defend a boy in the library from a bully, lo and behold, she ends capturing the attention of a guy she least wanted or expected (Drew) and now she'll have to pay the consequences. Drew had a hard life always having to follow his dad's commands and oblige to his every whim for the sake of his mother. As much as he wanted to keep tormenting Maybell (wallflower or flower) he knew that he couldn't do this forever. But even though he wasn't a boyfriend material kind of guy and more of a one and done guy, he just couldn't stay away from Maybell. Her feistiness and snark is what kept him going back every time. Wallflower was so damn sassy and I just could't get enough of her when her POV took place. I loved her snark and how she didn't just jump on a whim for him is what always had me rooting for her. Drew...he just was something else. He was like no other guy I've read and his possessive nature towards this girl was unfathomable. He confused me at times with his hot and cold demeanor with Maybell, but he still intrigued me so much. JL Beck has me in shambles and I just cannot wait for the next book! This series is definitely going to be top for me! One hell of a story with a broken and misunderstood hero with a penchant for his nerdy wallflower. Gosh darnit, I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK! JL Beck has given us something worth reading!!

It will end in a cliffhanger and please check your trigger warnings* Drew is a rich jock who has all the women falling at his feet and has a strict no repeat rule. He enjoys the fear and chase of his conquests so he sets his sights on Maybel (Bel), the poor, scholarship wallflower who stands up to him. Little does she know, her fear and disgust of him turns him on. When he finds out she's attending his annual Hunt as she needs the prize money, she doesn't realize she's his prey and he won't be letting go after 1 time. This is my first J.L. Beck book and I am hooked! I didn't know it was going to end in a cliffhanger when I signed up for the ARC but I would've signed up regardless because dark sports romance is one of my favorites! While I was on the edge of my seat the whole book, the last 10-15% threw me for such a loop and ended! Just as we start to get some answers, we also get more new info that keeps you guessing and piecing theories together until the last minute. I wanted so badly for Drew to confide in his friends and Bel but I understand his reasoning in why he couldn't. I have never wanted to punch a fictional character as much as a few key people in this book. If you love an OTT, jealous/possessive MMC with a dirty mouth, Drew is for you! I'll patiently be waiting for the next ARC signup but in the mean time, swipe for some of Drew's quotes.
