Dark Horse (A Demon's Guide to the Afterlife)

I liked the entire premise and idea about interaction with paranormals. It is possible that I don't read a lot of books about demons, but a demon interacting with vampires, warewolves, and far was interesting.

Wow, this audiobook blew me away! I have listened to ones from Kel Carpenter but this is my first by her and her cowriter Aurelia Jane. I absolutely loved it and am dying for book 2 to come onto audio now! I had read this series but it had been on my TBR for awhile and I am kicking myself for not diving in sooner. The MC (Fury) is such a BA character, I love her feistiness and stubborn streak haha. There is a lot of humor in this book that I wasn't expecting (shouldn't have been surprised after we got glimpses of it in her other RH paranormal series) and I couldn't get enough. I loved Fury's relationship with some of the side characters from Hell (oh my goodness Hades was fabulous as well as her mentor/friend who helps her every time something doesn't go as planned haha, love that aspect of her demon self!). Loved Rox (Roman's sister) and even was liking Roman's beta who definitely will be pissed with Fury after what went down at the end of the book haha. Now the guys of this series are all scrumptious, some more than others! I loved Ezra, his arrogance not so much but his mind about getting on her good side and falling for her while trying to have her wrapped around his finger. Definitely backfired haha. Dorian I am unsure of at this point but I understand him going through a lot after how long he has been alive. I am unsure about the aspect of his daughter (and the ending makes me want to read book 2 before the audiobook drops!). I think he will fall the hardest and will become my favorite but right now he is very stonewalled. Roman I think is the cutest of the bunch in terms of his inexperience/age. I like that he tries to keep it together with his wolf and that he is still a strong and possessive alpha. I hope he steps up in book 2 because I need more of that! My emotions were all over the place after hearing their back stories and how they lost their loved ones previously. The ending of this book was fantastic and more things are coming together with the whole end of the world worry. I liked the pace of this book, giving us enough background and relationship building as well as the baddies trying to go after Fury and what she represents. Can't wait for more! Also the narrators were absolutely fabulous. I loved this duet narration (where the female narrator also does the female characters, etc.) I have no constructive feedback, I loved everything about this audio and cannot wait to listen to more of them. 5/5 stars easily from me!!

It was really a joy to read this book. I could not stop reading it. Didn't know the author, but I'm a follower now.

The world development and explanation hooked me immediately, the characters each have depth and interesting backstories while the intriguing plot slowly unfolds to create an epic adventure. I sort of figured out where it was leading, but I immensely enjoyed the ride!!

This is only the second review I’ve ever felt compelled to leave but of hundreds of KU books, this one left me little alternative. (The other was the one with a certain Yama Yama Yama scene that literally made me cry with laughter!) Great plot, characters wonderfully imperfect with excellent progression: some more developed by end of this book, others still getting there but gives you something to look forward to, no? Fae/shifter/vamps (hooray!) for a good base but with unique traits and world rather than same ol’ same ol’. Steam of quality rather than quantity (double hooray!). And those aren’t even my favourite parts - I genuinely cannot tell you just how hilarious this book is. Page after page, the wit just keeps coming. I thought the authors would run out at some point but nope….. You know all those witty one liners you think of after the event - it’s like a decades worth of those in one book (maybe a year if you are funnier than me though 🤪) Cant help but think how much fun it must have been for both co-authors to write this book. Wish I’d been in the room while they no doubt cried with laughter but am very happy to settle for just enjoying the results. Thankyou both 🫡

I really like this book, the humor, the no insta love even tho they are mates, likeable characters If it dosnt bother you that it's not strong in the world building aspect, with inconsistencies (she watches greys anatomy, but dosnt know about take out food) Its a really enjoyable read
