Ward: A Dark Forbidden Romance
Grace The fire stole everything from me. I was orphaned and homeless, my family’s estate locked in a trust I couldn’t touch until my birthday. I didn’t know what to expect when my father’s estranged step-brother, my new guardian, came to collect me. Handsome, patient, brooding. Aidan was the opposite of the rage-filled monster who’d raised me. But I soon learned that my guardian harbored sadistic whims of his own. I listened at doors and peered behind curtains. I saw things I shouldn’t have, things that made me want to reach under my skirt. Things I desperately want him to do to me. Aidan My desires are unconventional. Grace is too pure, too innocent for the things I would do to her untouched body. Yet a twisted part of me longs to see how she’d look on her knees, bound in leather, her silken skin bearing my marks. I’ll permit her to serve me if she promises to play by my rules. If only I could stop myself from breaking them. As her guardian, I’m charged with keeping her safe, and I take that responsibility to heart. But the devastating secrets I carry refuse to remain in the dark. This love will burn us alive, but I’ll walk through fire before I let the flames touch my little one. Author's Note: This title contains dark tropes and sensitive themes. Why You'll Love This
Beautifully written. This story seemed a bit too much on the taboo side for me in the beginning, but is definitely a slow burn BDSM romance which I enjoyed. I loved the character development and getting to see how they became closer. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
After her parents die in an accidental fire in their home, Grace Whittaker finds herself the ward of her wealthy, aloof step uncle Aiden O'Rourke - a man who enjoys a lifestyle he's trying to keep hidden from Grace. Aiden believes with Grace spending most of her time at her ballet boarding school, he and his Dom friends can continue hosting BDSM parties for their community. All is going well until Grace happens upon one of Aiden's parties and becomes enthralled with his world. Grace still wishes to attend her ballet school, but now she also wishes to become Aiden's sub. She's underage and Aiden and his fellow Doms strictly forbid anyone not of legal age to participate. However, Aiden decides he can train Grace as a service sub which boils down to her doing her homework and doing what's good for her body to achieve her goals in the school of ballet. All is going well. Aiden believes he and Grace will easily transition after her 18th birthday to Dom/ sub who do not include sexual activity in (or out) of their play scenes. This is not what Grace expects and Aiden must decide how he'll handle a young sub who has captured his heart while still staying true to rules he's set for himself after an unfortunate play scene 20 years ago. From this point the story really takes off! We learn what happened during that fateful night that Aiden last incorporated sex with his BDSM scenes and what consequences he's faced that has caused him to have such strict rules. We also watch as Grace and Aiden fall in love and who/ what threatens their relationship. Can Aiden ever really give Grace the life she deserves? Will they get the chance to have their relationship grow into a HEA or will their relationship and perhaps their lives be over before they ever really get the chance?! I highly recommend Margot Scott's Ward for an exciting thriller romance dabbling in the world of BDSM. Ward does not have the underage heroine participating in inappropriate sexual contact. All scenes with sexual contact are between adults of consenting age.
This was really good for such a short book. In a small span of time the characters seem well developed and the story moves along at a good pace. It wraps up nice and sweet. If you are one of those people who complains about endings that are too perfect you may not like this one. The only part that made me cringe was when he invited his friends over. I was disappointed he let things go as far as they did. I was also mad at Grace for being so nice and forgiving about the whole thing. She should have had more to say and hold him accountable for what he did. I mean her virginity is a special thing and everything about that scene was terrible. Now, saying that, its not the story that was maddening. It was just how both characters behaved. I would completely recommend this book if you wanted to read something in a single sitting.
I am left with a lot of questions like who burned down her parents house and who is Liam father? Who is the other person Liam kill?
Through tragic circumstances the fmc comes to live with her fathers estranged step brother. He is scarred from events in his past just as she is. The way the author details their past is done with sensitivity and not overly graphic. Great plot, great spice and lots of spanking
